In 2016, the Father John E. Doyle Council of the Knights of Columbus undertook an effort to raise the funds needed to purchase a new cargo van for the Little Sisters of the Poor. The Sisters depend upon a reliable cargo van to collect donations of food, clothing, furniture and other items – items that are essential to the operation of Holy Family Home and the care of the home’s nearly 100 residents. The cost of a new van is in excess of $40,000.00.
Through the generous response of members of the Doyle council, the parishes the Doyle council serves (Corpus Christi and St. Rose), and area Knights of Columbus councils, over $45,000.00 was raised to purchase a new cargo van. More than $15,000.00 was raised for this effort during a collection here at Corpus Christi in October, 2016. On October 6, 2017, members of the Doyle Council presented the Little Sisters of the Poor with their brand new cargo van!
