Safe Environment Requirements

Instructions for Obtaining Required Background
Checks and Archdiocesan Training Requirement for Volunteers

1. PA State Police Criminal Record Check
Can be obtained online at Receive results online within a few minutes.
After July 25, 2015 the cost is waived.

2. PA Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance
Can be obtained online at Results will be emailed to you within
14 days.

3. Federal Criminal Background Check (FBI Fingerprint Clearance)
Must be completed ONLY if you have lived in PA for less than 10 years.

If you have lived in Pa continuously for 10 years, you will need to complete the Disclosure Statement Application for volunteers to be filed at the place of service.

All required clearances, including FBI, must be renewed every 5 years (60 months).

Philadelphia Archdiocesan Training Requirements:

1. Attendance at “Protecting God’s Children, Awareness Session for Adults”
Go to to register for a session. Once you attend please drop off a copy of
“Ministerial Behavior and Boundaries” to the Parish Center Office.

2. Information & Communication Technology Addendum. If you attended a “Protecting God’s Children” class prior to July, 2011 you must complete the Information and Communication Technology Addendum. This is a one-time requirement. This training is now available on-line through the OCYP website at under “Training Institute”. When completed, the certification form must be signed and handed in to the Parish Center Office.

3. Mandated Reporter Training
Click this link then click onto Staff and Volunteers, select Required Training, Scroll down to Mandated Reporter Online Component, then ‘click here’. Register and take the on-line quiz. You will receive a confirmation by email from the Archdiocese that you took this training. Please bring this form entitled “Certificate of Completion” into the Parish Center Office.

4. Mandated Reporter Amendment (for those who completed the Mandated Reporter Training prior to December 2014) You must now complete the amended Mandated Reporter Training by reading the Promise to Protect brochure, signing the Acknowledgement  form and bringing the form into the Parish Office.

 All copies of Clearances, Ministerial Behavior & Boundaries and Proof of
Mandated Reporter Training must be received by the Corpus Christi
Catholic School Office/Parish Center Office before you will be cleared to volunteer.

The following forms can be downloaded if you do not want to apply on-line. Include the consent form with the child abuse form when mailing the application to the state. It gives the state permission to send the results to the Parish Office.
