Palm Sunday Reflection Video

frschieleHello Folks:

Here’s the link for the Palm Sunday reflection video. My thanks again to McHenry Creative Services for the filming and editing. All mistakes are mine.

And a word of warning; SORRY! The Palm will be out from 9-5 on Sunday as promised but I’ve only dealt with blessing the stuff before. I’ve never needed to worry about unpacking it! So it might seem a bit musty. My bad. Good think you’re bringing your own gloves huh? And you probably want to let it outside for the rest of the day to dry out. Again, my apologies. I’ll get better I hope. And remember of course, now that we are encouraged to wear masks; IS A SACRAMENT WORTH MAYBE GETTING SICK? Just be careful.

Don’t forget to sign in to the archdiocesan website for the Holy Week Liturgies. And if you want to see something cool, go that site on this Monday at 7 PM. That’s when Archbishop Pérez will be celebrating the Chrism Mass. We normally do that on Holy Thursday morning but with the pandemic, everything is topsy-turvy as you well know. But all the Holy Oils get blessed at this Mass and it’s cool to see.

Praying for you always,

Palm Sunday Update

Hello Folks:
frschieleI was going to warn you that this would be the harshest Flocknote that I’ve sent so far and then I slept on it 😊.  So while this will be a FIRM Flocknote, it won’t be as fierce as I thought I’d need to make it.  Here goes…
These past two weeks a number of you have called and asked what we’re doing with/about the Palm.   I had had a plan in my head for distribution but then in some recent directives the archdiocese suggested that we don’t distribute due to crowd concerns and contact issues while getting the Palm.  But after talking with one of our neighbors (who shall remain nameless 😊), who is planning distribution on Palm Sunday, I decided to go with the original plan.
hosannaBut before I share it with you, here’s the FIRMNESS—folks, Palm is what we call a sacramental.  It’s nice; it’s got great symbolic value; it’s certainly part of our Catholic devotional tradition.  But…IS A SACRAMENTAL WORTH MAYBE GETTING SICK?  I set up a plan that will hopefully lessen the chance.  But YOU have to be the ones to make it work and even if you do, there are no guarantees.  So I’ll ask again and I want you to THINK about it.  IS A SACRAMENTAL WORTH MAYBE GETTING SICK?
And what’s the plan?
