Hello Folks:
Here’s the link for the Palm Sunday reflection video. My thanks again to McHenry Creative Services for the filming and editing. All mistakes are mine.
And a word of warning; SORRY! The Palm will be out from 9-5 on Sunday as promised but I’ve only dealt with blessing the stuff before. I’ve never needed to worry about unpacking it! So it might seem a bit musty. My bad. Good think you’re bringing your own gloves huh? And you probably want to let it outside for the rest of the day to dry out. Again, my apologies. I’ll get better I hope. And remember of course, now that we are encouraged to wear masks; IS A SACRAMENT WORTH MAYBE GETTING SICK? Just be careful.
Don’t forget to sign in to the archdiocesan website for the Holy Week Liturgies. And if you want to see something cool, go that site on this Monday at 7 PM. That’s when Archbishop Pérez will be celebrating the Chrism Mass. We normally do that on Holy Thursday morning but with the pandemic, everything is topsy-turvy as you well know. But all the Holy Oils get blessed at this Mass and it’s cool to see.
Praying for you always,
The printing company that usually makes our bulletin available online is closed during this time, so we will be posting the bulletins each week. Use the link below to read it.
Any Palm that is not picked up on Palm Sunday will be kept for later distribution. I’m sure it will dry out as Palm does. But we’ll keep it secure and available for those unable to pick it up on Palm Sunday.
So there it is. Be smart. Be safe. If you don’t have gloves that would keep you and others safe, please don’t come. If you’re in the vulnerable demographic, please don’t come. I know some other parishes are putting Palm in bags but we don’t have the bags. I’ve heard some are planning a drive-thru but I’m not asking our clergy or staff to put themselves at risk with that option. This is about trying to keep us all safe. Make sure it’s worth it.
I’ll let you know later if we plan to keep the Palm out during Holy Week itself. If we do, it will still be under the front overhang of the Church. IT WILL NOT be available through the Parish Office so please don’t ask.
In other news, we’ll still be producing some reflection videos for Holy Week and I encourage you to link to the archdiocesan website for the Cathedral’s livestreaming of the Holy Week Liturgies. And know that as we clergy here celebrate the liturgies of Holy Week you are always in our hearts. We will get through this. God bless.
Praying for you always,
